Optimizing Monarx Site Cleanup with Cloudflare

For Monarx to provide seamless, automated malware removal and site remediation, our security scanners and cleanup agents must be able to communicate directly with your server. If you use Cloudflare, your traffic is proxied through their global network. While this provides excellent protection against malicious bots, it can sometimes inadvertently block Monarx’s legitimate security operations.

To ensure that the Site Cleanup service can effectively reach your files and neutralize threats in real-time, you must whitelist the Monarx IP addresses within your Cloudflare dashboard.

Why Whitelisting is Necessary

When Monarx identifies a malicious file on your site, our Site Cleanup engine sends a request to perform the remediation. If these requests are intercepted by Cloudflare’s Web Application Firewall (WAF) or "Under Attack" mode, the cleanup may fail or be delayed. By whitelisting our IPs, you create a "safe passage" that allows Monarx to protect your site without interference.

Step-by-Step: How to Whitelist Monarx IPs in Cloudflare

  1. Log in to your Cloudflare dashboard and select the domain you are securing.

  2. Navigate to Security in the left-hand sidebar, then click on WAF.

  3. Select the Tools tab (located at the top of the WAF section).

  4. Under IP Access Rules, you will add each of the Monarx IPs individually.

  5. For each IP address:

    • Enter the IP Address into the Value field.

    • Set the Action to "Skip" (or "Allow" depending on your dashboard version).

    • Select "This Website" (or "All websites in account" if you manage multiple domains).

    • Add a note in the Notes section (e.g., "Monarx Site Cleanup Service").

    • Click Add.

Monarx IP Addresses to Whitelist

Please ensure all of the following IP addresses are added to your Cloudflare IP Access Rules:

Type

IP Address

IPv4

35.155.66.123

IPv4

35.155.94.94

IPv4

44.233.225.38

IPv4

34.216.8.209

IPv4

44.245.68.222

IPv4

52.88.67.19

IPv4

52.42.56.82

Verification

Once these rules are added, Cloudflare will bypass its security challenges for requests originating from these specific addresses. This ensures that the Monarx cleanup tools can operate at peak efficiency.

Note: If you are also using a server-side firewall (such as ConfigServer Security & Firewall - CSF) or an Nginx/Apache-based access list, please ensure these same IPs are whitelisted at the origin server level as well.
