Overview of Site Cleanups

Written by Salvador Aguilar

The Site Cleanup section of the Monarx Web App is where you manage requests for Monarx's WordPress Cleanup Service — a manual review and remediation of an infected WordPress site's files, plugins, themes, users, and database by a Monarx engineer.

What This Page Does

This page shows a list of all submitted Site Cleanup requests, and lets you submit new ones. For full step-by-step instructions on submitting a request (required fields, requirements the site must meet, and the API alternative), see How to Submit a WordPress Site Cleanup.

Understanding Request Status

Each submitted request moves through a status as it's reviewed and worked by a Monarx engineer:

  • Requested: The request has been submitted and is waiting to be picked up by a Monarx engineer.

  • In Progress: A Monarx engineer has started reviewing the infected website. You'll receive feedback once the analysis and cleanup are complete.

  • Rejected: The request couldn't be processed. This typically happens when the site can't be reached (DNS issues, an expired or misconfigured domain, or an HTTP 4xx/5xx error), our tools can't access the site (for example, a WAF like Cloudflare blocking our analysis tools), or the file path provided doesn't exist.

  • Superseded: This request was replaced by a newer submission for the same site — for example, if a duplicate request was submitted before the original was processed. Only the most recent request will be actioned.

  • Completed: The Monarx engineer has finished the cleanup and added feedback on the activities performed and any next steps for the customer.

Getting a 403 Error?

If you receive an HTTP 403 while trying to view or submit requests on this page, it's most likely a permissions issue on your account rather than a problem with the Site Cleanup service itself. See Why Am I Getting a 403 Error on the Monarx Web App? for what this means and how to get it resolved.
