Can you clean WordPress sites?

Written by Salvador Aguilar

Keeping a WordPress ecosystem clean can be a daunting task for hosting providers and server administrators. We are pleased to confirm that Monarx does offer a professional WordPress Site Cleanup service. This specialized service is designed to go beyond automated detection, providing a deep-cleansing solution for sites that have been heavily compromised.

šŸ’” You can find more details on our WordPress Cleanup Service page.

Service Requirements & Availability

The WordPress Site Cleanup service is an optional add-on available to both new and existing customers who utilize our core Malware Protection suite.

āš ļø Important Requirement: This service is strictly dependent on the Monarx Agent being installed and active on your server. Because our analysts use the data and hooks provided by our server-level software to perform the remediation, we cannot offer this service to customers who do not run Monarx on their infrastructure.

At this time, this is a WordPress-exclusive service.

All cleanups are governed by the specific terms and conditions outlined in our WordPress Cleanup Service Policy.

šŸ“† Our 30-Day Reinfection Guarantee

We stand behind the quality of our work. Monarx provides a 30-day guarantee against reinfections for every site we clean. If the site is compromised again within that window, our team will re-evaluate and re-clean the site at no additional cost.

However, to maintain this guarantee and ensure long-term security, customers must perform the following post-cleanup actions immediately after the service is completed:

  1. Rotate all Administrator Passwords: Change passwords for every WordPress admin account, as well as FTP/SSH and database credentials.

  2. Update All WordPress Software: Ensure the WordPress core, all plugins, and all themes are updated to their latest versions.

  3. Reinstall Disabled/Removed Components: If our team had to disable or remove a vulnerable plugin or theme to secure the site, you should reinstall a fresh, updated copy from a trusted source.

  4. Review Admin User Accounts: Audit the list of WordPress users and remove any unauthorized or inactive accounts that may have been created by the attacker.
