Can I Trigger a Malware Scan from the Monarx cPanel Plugin?

Written by Salvador Aguilar

No — the Monarx cPanel plugin does not support triggering a manual malware scan. This article explains why, and what to do instead.

Why This Isn't Available

Manual scans can only be triggered through the Monarx web app (app.monarx.com) or the Monarx API. Both of these are available exclusively to our hosting partners — they are not available to end-users or through any plugin, including the cPanel plugin.

The cPanel plugin surfaces Monarx protection status on your account, but it doesn't provide manual scan controls.

What to Do Instead

If you're a direct Monarx customer

Trigger the scan yourself from the Monarx web app or via the Monarx API.

If you're not a direct Monarx customer

Monarx is deployed on your server by your hosting provider — you'll need to go through them:

  1. Contact your hosting provider's support team.

  2. Ask them to trigger a manual malware scan on your account through their Monarx access.

If your site needs cleanup, not just a scan

Monarx offers a paid site cleanup service available through hosting partners: Monarx WordPress Cleanup Service.

Check with your hosting provider's support team and ask them for a site cleanup — they can arrange this on your behalf.
