How to Enable SmartWAF on a Server Agent

Written by Salvador Aguilar

This guide shows you how to enable SmartWAF for a specific server agent in the Monarx WebApp.

Prerequisites

  • An active Monarx account with access to the Monarx WebApp

  • At least one Monarx Agent already installed and reporting into your account

  • SmartWAF service enabled for your Enterprise. If you do not have it, please contact our team.

Steps

1. Log in to the Monarx WebApp

Go to the Monarx WebApp and log in with your account credentials.

2. Go to the Server Agents page

From the main navigation, click Server Agents. This page lists all the agents connected to your account.

3. Select the agent

Click the specific agent for which you want to enable SmartWAF. This opens that agent's detail page.

4. Open the SmartWAF settings

Next to the SmartWAF title, click the gear icon. This opens the SmartWAF configuration screen.

5. Enable the toggle and save

On the configuration screen, turn on the toggle to enable SmartWAF, then click SAVE.

Note: Due to propagation, it can take up to 20 minutes for SmartWAF to become fully enabled on the agent. This delay is expected — you don't need to repeat the steps if the feature doesn't appear active immediately.

Verify It Worked

Return to the agent's SmartWAF settings after a few minutes. Once propagation completes (up to 20 minutes), the toggle will show as enabled and SmartWAF will be actively protecting the agent.

Common Issues

  • Toggle appears off after saving: Wait up to 20 minutes for propagation before checking again.

  • Gear icon not visible: Confirm you've selected the correct agent from the Server Agents page and that the agent is online and reporting.
