How to Enable 2FA/MFA in the Monarx Web App

Written by Salvador Aguilar

This guide shows you how to enable two-factor authentication (2FA), also known as multi-factor authentication (MFA), for your Monarx account.

What Is 2FA/MFA?

2FA/MFA adds a second layer of security to your account beyond your password. Once enabled, logging in requires a one-time passcode (OTP) generated by an authenticator app, in addition to your regular password — so a leaked or guessed password alone isn't enough to access your account.

Prerequisites

  • Access to app.monarx.com.

  • A password manager or authenticator app that supports scanning QR codes for OTP/TOTP codes, such as 1Password, LastPass, Keeper, Apple Passwords, or a dedicated authenticator app.

Steps

1. Navigate to your MFA settings

Go to Dashboard > Account > User Credentials > [your email account] > MFA.

2. Scan the QR code

If MFA is not already enabled for your account, you'll see a QR code on this page. Open your password manager or authenticator app and scan (or otherwise add) this QR code to it.

3. Enter the generated OTP code

Your password manager/authenticator app will generate a one-time passcode (OTP) once the QR code is added. Enter that code into the field provided on the MFA page.

4. Save

Click Save to complete setup. If the code you entered is correct, MFA will be successfully enabled on your account.

Common Issues

  • Code rejected / MFA not enabled: If you enter the wrong OTP code, MFA won't be enabled. Return to the MFA page and try again with a fresh code from your app (OTP codes expire and rotate frequently, so make sure you're using the most current one).

Disabling MFA

If MFA is already enabled for your account, the same page (Dashboard > Account > User Credentials > [your email account] > MFA) will show an option to disable it instead of a QR code.
